NextGen West 2023

Postponed from 14 October 2023 to 18 November 2023.

How can we think about going and sharing the gospel with people on the other side of the world when so many who don't know Jesus are living just across the street? Should we focus our efforts on sharing Jesus at home or overseas? Or do the two go together?

Whether you are interested in mission at home or away, we'd love for you to join us in Birmingham on Saturday 18 November for a day exploring our place in God's global plan. Which might mean going overseas, or staying right where you are.

If you've been on a short-term mission trip, considering going on one, or just wondering what God might have you do next, this is a day for you to explore with God, ask questions and come away inspired to share Jesus more.

We'll be hearing stories from people crossing cultures with the good news of Jesus here in the UK and overseas, looking at the Bible together and coming together to seek God's face and hear what he has to say to us about our place in God's global plan.

Advance booking is required. The event is free and includes lunch.

There will be two seminar options:

  • Blessing East Asians, with Edward*

  • Blessing Muslims, with Adrian Brixey

You’ll have the option to pick which seminar to attend when you book your ticket.

Speakers

Adrian Brixey

Adrian joins us to help us explore how we can bless our Muslim friends and neighbours, across the street and across the world.

Adrian was born in the UK but has two half-brothers from Iraq. He spent a few years teaching in schools in the UK before moving to Southeast Asia, where he served in Muslim communities for 12 years. Now back in the UK, he serves Muslims and refugees, supports church leaders and seeks to help churches open their doors to those in need.

Adrian is married to Antonia and they have six children.

Natch Ayling

Natch will be speaking in the plenary session ‘Why bother with mission anyway?’ Natch grew up in Japan in a missionary family and served as a missionary there himself for about eight years.

Natch is passionate about student ministry having previously worked with UCCF as a staff worker and being involved in student work in Japan. As the OMF Area Representative for Wales and the West of England, he works to encourage churches and individual Christians in the region find their place in God’s great plan to gather an innumerable multitude from every tribe and tongue to worship the Lamb on the throne.

Natch is married to Anna. They have four children and a menagerie of pets.

Edward*

Edward will be leading our seminar on blessing East Asians. Edward was born and raised in Africa, taught English in East Asia, and now lives in the UK along with his wife and two children.

Edward is passionate about mission and seeing young people find their place in it. He believes that God is able to take whatever skills, talents, or interests we have and use them for his glory, if only we are open and willing. He has been working amongst East Asians in the UK for two decades and will briefly share some of the wisdom he has accumulated.
